Honolulu, HI (Dec. 16, 2025) – Local IT industry veteran Keriann Osada has joined UHA Health Insurance as senior vice president and chief information officer as part of a strategic transition due to the retirement of longtime CIO Alan Saka. She is the first female CIO in UHA’s 29-year history.

In this position, Ms. Osada is responsible for the development and execution of UHA’s information technology strategy including infrastructure, data management, compliance, digital innovation and cybersecurity. As CIO, she serves as a member of the UHA Executive Team.

“Our commitment to our members, employers and providers is unwavering,” shares UHA President and CEO Howard Lee. “As we look ahead, Keriann will lead initiatives that keep our technology current, enhance the way we serve and strengthen protections for those who rely on us. These efforts ensure that every improvement we make is focused on delivering a better experience while reflecting our deliberate approach to progress and innovation.”

Over more than three decades in the IT industry both locally and on the continent, Ms. Osada has held technical and strategic management positions at a wide range of organizations including Hawaiian Telcom, PeopleBridge, Accenture and Hewlett-Packard.

Most recently, Ms. Osada served as director of IT product & program management at HMSA.

A Kaimukī resident, Ms. Osada earned a Master of Business Administration from the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University. She is an active, decades-long community volunteer who is leading the Second Annual Paws for Prevention pet walk for the Hawai‘i chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and serves as a mentor for the UH IT/Cyber Leap-Start Experience Excelerator program. She founded the Kaimukī Pickleball Club.

A proud graduate of all-girls Sacred Hearts Academy, Ms. Osada is cognizant of her unique position as a local female technology leader. (According to the Women in Tech Network, less than 10% of CIO, chief technology officer or IT manager positions across the nation are held by women.) She continues to be involved with her alma mater and has been a featured speaker to encourage other women to follow her into STEM (science-technology-engineering-math) fields; she was honored with the Sacred Hearts Academy Distinguished Alumna award in 2008.

As a local visionary in IT, Ms. Osada has presented at numerous technology conferences and served as an IT mentor or coach over the decades; most recently with Hawai‘i Annual Code Challenge, Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange and XLR8HI, as well as FLL and VEX Robotics.
