UHA Health Insurance Pledges $300,000 to Support The Queen’s Health System’s Quality-Care Initiatives
Honolulu, HI (Feb. 23, 2023) – UHA Health Insurance has pledged $300,000 to The Queen’s Health System in support of their Quality Innovations Program, a partnership that the two organizations founded in 2019.
This UHA funding will expand Queen’s coordinated, multi-disciplinary care management team to better support patient care. Specifically, the $300,000 will fund two new full-time Queen’s positions in addition to supporting other quality-care initiatives.
These caregivers will provide specialized assistance as they focus on more complex patient issues such as chronic illnesses and repeat hospital visits. This case management approach will help patients navigate the healthcare system while providing an extra layer of support to patients and their families. The funding will also bolster Queen’s overall case-management resources to ensure that patients’ needs are identified early for best outcomes.
“As a physician-founded company, UHA shares The Queen’s Health System’s goal of always providing access to high quality patient care for Hawai‘i’s people,” explains Dr. George McPheeters, UHA Health Insurance senior vice president and chief medical officer. “To that end, we believe that our collaboration with Queen’s will help to increase safety, access and quality for patients and be of enduring value to both Queen’s and UHA. We are grateful for this partnership.”
“Care coordination, teamwork and mutual trust are known to improve health outcomes and value,” said Dr. Whitney Limm, executive vice president of clinical integration and chief physician executive at The Queen’s Health System. “We know that by bringing together the right teams of caregivers who are aligned and committed to focusing on patient-centered care plans, we can help improve their well-being.”
In addition, as part of its collaboration to provide innovative, high-quality care, UHA has also provided significant funding to Queen’s to support programs striving for better patient outcomes. In 2020, UHA provided $300,000 to Queen’s for its new infectious disease unit which is setting the standard in airborne and infectious disease control and treatment.
