UHA Names Dr. Richard Ridao as Chief Medical Officer
(HONOLULU: NOVEMBER 7, 2006) — UHA President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Max Botticelli today announced the appointment of Honolulu internist Dr. Richard Ridao as the company's Chief Medical Officer.
"We're pleased that Dr. Ridao will bring his talents and experience both in managing health care and providing quality care to lead our Health Care Services team," Dr. Botticelli said. "His appointment underscores UHA's commitment to improving the quality of health care for our 36,000 members statewide."
In addition to his private practice in Internal Medicine, since 2000 Dr. Ridao worked with Kaiser Permanente's Affiliated Care Network to manage acute care patients in outside hospitals. He served as physician advisor to the Utilization Review Departments of both the St. Francis Healthcare System and Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi. For thirteen years, he was affiliated with Straub Clinic and Hospital's Department of Internal Medicine, delivering routine and emergency care.
Dr. Ridao was a Director of the St. Francis Healthcare System, was Vice Chief-of-Staff at St. Francis Medical Center West, and chaired the St. Francis Medical Center West Credentials Committee. He was recently on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Medical Administrators Group and previously served on the Board of Directors of the St. Francis Physician Hospital Alliance. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Philippine Medical Association of Hawaii. He is a graduate of Kaimuki High School, Pacific University in Oregon, and the John A. Burns School of Medicine, and earned an M.B.A. in Management from Hawaii Pacific University.
He has a long history of service with the Moilili Hongwanji Temple and Preschool and as a volunteer physician in the community for the City and County of Honolulu. He is also a member of the Girl Scouts of Hawaii. Dr. Ridao is married with two children, and lives in Honolulu.
