Account Executive
General Description of Position
- Responsible for achieving assigned sales goals through successful new business development
Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS/KNOWLEGE
- Able to navigate through internal and external computer systems including Microsoft Word and Excel, and have proficient PC keyboarding skills
- Able to use acquired knowledge and willing to learn new skills
Education/Certification/Licensure
- Associate degree or equivalent in specialized business training
- Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance in accordance with UHA required minimums
- State of Hawaii Life and Health Insurance license required within 3 months of hire
Experience
- Two years of recent applicable sales experience
- Healthcare, human resources, or teaching experience a plus
Underwriter
General Description of Position
- Evaluate the risk and exposure of company risk contracts. Prepare insurance rate proposals and renewals for rate setting committee. Update monthly reports and prepare confidential utilization reports for employer groups
Minimum Qualifications
SKILLS/KNOWLEGE
- Able to navigate through internal and external computer systems including Microsoft Word and Excel, and have proficient PC keyboarding skills
- Able to use acquired knowledge and willing to learn new skills
- Able to read, analyze and interpret data and information
- Able to effectively present information and communicate verbally and in writing detailed information and findings
- Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentage changes, variances, and proportions
- Able to apply concepts such as trends, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Knowledge of insurance or healthcare industry with preferable background in group rating processes for medical insurance
- Able to understand computer systems in a professional environment
- Special project skills are highly desirable
- Able to work amicably with management and other personnel
- Good organizational ability and initiative
- Dedicated to accuracy, meeting deadline standards, and a sense of responsibility regarding the handling of confidential materials
- Able to work as a contributing team member towards achieving the stated goals of management
Education/Certification/Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited university/college with a Bachelor degree
- Excel and Access classes through the advanced level if the person does not have a good background with those programs
Experience
- Two years experience in underwriting or other work experience
